OUTCOME BASED EDUCATION COMMITTEE (OBEC)
The Outcome Based Education Committee is constituted with HoD, senior faculty members from the department. The OBE meeting will be held twice in a semester.
Aim:
Outcome Based Education (OBE) is a process that involves the restructuring of curriculum, assessment and reporting practices in education to reflect the achievement of high order learning and mastery rather than the accumulation of course credits.
It is based on four concepts,
- Clarity of focus (curriculum design, instructional delivery, assessment is in line with the expected outcome)
- Expanded opportunity (ways and number of times students get a chance to learn and demonstrate)
- High expectations (all students able to do significant things)
- Design down (design curriculum from the perspective of expected outcome).
OBE Principles |
Redesign Issues |
How to Implement |
Clarity of focus |
Focus on what learners will be able to do successfully |
|
Expanded Opportunities |
Do not learn the same thing in the same way at the same time |
|
High Expectations |
Establish high, challenging performance standards |
|
Design Down |
Begin curriculum design with a clear definition of what learners are to achieve by the end of their formal education |
|
The present composition of OBE committee is as follows.
