Women Empowerment Cell

Women Empowerment cell has been established in our  college on 10th Jan, 2020. WEC aims to create awareness that Women’s development is integral to the overall development of our country. It helps in creating social awareness about the problem of women. The cell also aims at creating awareness of their rights and duties. It also provides a platform for women to share their experiences and views regarding their status in the society and to suggest ways to improve and empower themselves. The cell mainly stands for facilitating women’s empowerment through guest lectures, seminars, awareness programmes and other welfare activities. WEC will step forward with specific objectives and plan of action by focusing quality activities for the well-being of girl students.

            WEC is also functioning as an internal Complaints Committee, to provide a healthy and congenial atmosphere to the staff and students of NIT, also to provide a confidential and supportive environment for members of the campus who may have been sexually harassed.

Objectives of Women Empowerment Cell

• To help women in developing a confident personality
• To create awareness about women welfare laws
• To maintain a dignified working environment
• To conduct guest lectures, seminars and workshops to impart knowledge of opportunities and tools available to train women
• To sensitize the college community on the need for empowerment of women
• To help women students in understanding their strength and potential
• To provide help, in case of necessity round the clock.

Objectives of Internal Complaint Committee

• To develop a policy against sexual harassment of women at the Institute
• To evolve a permanent mechanism for the prevention and redressal of sexual harassment cases and other acts of gender based violence at the Institute
• To create a secure physical and social environment to deter any act of sexual harassment.
• To promote a social and psychological environment to raise awareness on sexual harassment  in its various forms.
